Mission
The mission of Columbus Elementary School, an intimate neighborhood community of respectful learners, is to ensure that each child’s intrinsic worth and potential is maximized by reflecting on instructional practices, creating authentic educational opportunities and embracing differences in collaboration with students, families, community and staff.
Objectives
- No later than 2010, each Columbus student will meet or exceed the District and state identified proficiency levels for performance in reading, math, science and social studies.
- Each Columbus child will consistently exhibit respectful and responsible behavior.
- Each Columbus child will meet at least once per quarter with a staff member and supportive adult i.e. parent, family member, mentor to discuss academic and emotional growth.
- Annually, each Columbus child will participate in a meaningful service-learning project.
