Everyday Math Games Online Website Dear Family,
Games are an important part of the Everyday Mathematics curriculum. By playing Everyday Math games regularly, important skills and concepts are reinforced, basic math facts are practiced and problem-solving strategies are applied in a fun and enjoyable way. The games help students develop the ability to think critically and solve problems. And more importantly students enjoy playing the games, which makes learning fun.
The At Home/Website method can be used from nearly any Internet-enabled computer. Many of the Everyday Mathematics games can now be played on your home computer. An online version allows your child to play the
EMGames at home by clicking on the link above. At this website your child will use the same password that he or she uses at school. Your student brought home a letter explaining Everyday Math Games Online as well as listing their student login name and password, which consists of a number, a letter, and a shape. If you can not find your letter, please click on the link "Contact Us" to find your teacher's e-mail link and let them know that you need another password card for EM Games Online.
Before allowing a student to log in, an adult should check the Technology Requirements and/or Computer Test link to verify that the computer meets the requirements to use EMGames or to acquire any necessary updates for the computer.

Logging In

To Play The Games
Select Level: The Select Level page may show one, two, or three buttons, but the larger button at the top will always be the recommended game set for your students grade levelas the of
games for the indicated grade range. Each game set has a variety of games and challenge levels.
Playing a Game: Each game starts with a game simulation accompanied by audio instructions. These instructions explain how to play the game and interact with the game controls. Students who have already played a game before and know how to use the controls can click the skip directions button and jump right into the game.
If a student needs to leave a game before it has completed, they can click the exit button at any time. When students complete a game (or exit it before it has completed) their score and session is recorded in the system. Students are then asked if they want to replay the current game or choose another game to play.
Finally, when students are done with EMGames they should click EXIT on the game selection screen which will return them to the login page.

You can look in the table of contents or the index to find the page that gives a brief explanation of the topic. Most of the time it will solve a sample problem for you step-by-step.
For Adults: Your child comes home and is trying to solve a complex multiplication problem but isn’t coming up with the correct answer. They ask you to help, but how they are solving the problem looks like another language to you, the Student Interactive Reference Book would be a very helpful tool for you to view how your student has been taught to solve today’s problem.
Check Your Understanding: Always read mathematical text with paper and pencil in hand. Take notes, draw pictures and diagrams to help you understand what you are reading. Work the examples. Check your work in the “Check Your Understanding" problems, try to find your mistake by working back from the correct answer give in the answer key.
It is not always easy to read text about math, but the more you use the Student Reference Book the better you will become at understanding this kind of material.
